Stream Augmentation Underway
Stream Augmentation Underway
The URNRD's Rock Creek and NCORPE augmentation projects are being operated to guarantee compliance with the three-state Republican River Compact and prevent District-wide irrigation shutdowns. Neither project has had to be used to enhance stream flows since 2017. The Rock Creek project will provide approximately 1,800 acre feet of water through early spring. Since the Rock Creek project was completed in 2012 and after operations cease this year, approximately 40% less water will have been pumped from project wells than would have been pumped had the 5,000 formerly irrigated acres on the propry remained irrigated.
