Payments Available to Farmers Who Improve Nitrogen Efficiency
Corn farmers have until May 15 to apply for a program that pays $15 per acre if they meet nitrogen-use efficiency standards. The Nitrogen Use Efficiency Program measures how effectively a crop converts available and applied nitrogen into harvested grain yield and is funded by the Nebraska Corn Board. Approximately $49,000 is available to farmers in the Upper Republican NRD; for an application and guidelines, see the news story under "NRD News and Events" on this web page.
