News From The URNRD

The Nebraska State Envirothon was held at Halsey National Forest, State 4-H Camp, Saturday, May 3, 2008.  The Wauneta-Palisade High School Envirothon team won the right to attend the National Canon Envirothon, held in Flagstaff, Arizona later this summer.  This is the third year in a row that Wauneta-Palisade has won the Nebraska State Envirothon.  Their team has attended the National Competition held in Winnipeg, Canada in summer 2006 and in Geneva, New York in summer 2007.

The Envirothon is a program about our natural environment.  Five-member teams compete in seven areas of environmental studies: soil, aquatics, forestry, wildlife, range and a current environmental issue.  Students compete in regional contests that test their knowledge on a wide array of subjects relating to natural resources and the environment.

The Wauneta-Palisade team consisted of members: Brennan Keiser, Jesse Skelton, Donna Schluckebier, Jenna Jutten and Michele Stretch.  Their coaches are Teresa Hayes and Dan Andrews.

Congratulations to the Wauneta-Palisade High School Envirothon team!!
